PHILOSOPHY
Karen Shea is a Holistic Bodywork Practitioner and is certified in the Trager Approach™ and Relaxation Massage. She has been a practitioner and healer for 25 years both in Vancouver and Bowen Island. As well as completing her various massage and Trager® trainings, Karen has been a student of energy healing, African percussion, Vipassana Meditation, Tai Chi, Yoga, Taekwondo, Nutrition, Pilates, Meditation and Dance. She has made Bowen her home since 2002 and is raising two beautiful daughters. Prior to moving here from Vancouver she worked as a Naturopathic Assistant in clinics in Kitsilano as a Colon Therapist and Nutritional Counsellor - then founded and operated her own clinic, Vestta Whole Health Centre from 1993 to 2001.
Originally trained and certified in the Trager Approach®, Karen went on to add other techniques to her repertoire such as Shiatsu, Reiki, Body Alignment Technique, Colon Hydrotherapy, Relaxation Massage, Aromatherapy, Lymph Drainage Massage and Cranial Sacral Therapy.
Her technique generally is a combination of the gentle approach and soothing joint release movements of Trager® bodywork and the deeper flow of aromatherapy oil massage. This combination of techniques can create deep relaxation, which can allow the body and mind to achieve a state of balance and integration.
In Karen’s sessions, you will experience a profound feeling of peace and let-go through her flowing style of gentle compressions, deep tissue with oil, acupressure and the hypnotic rocking movements of of the Trager® technique.
Look forward to peeling off layers of unneeded tension, opening up locked joints and tissues and letting your energy flow more fully for a greater sense of well-being.
